The three-day event will push the boundaries of knowledge in space innovation and medicine. Space Medicine is not only relevant to medical practitioners, but also to professionals seeking to understand how to anticipate, manage, and respond to uncertainty in extreme environments with limited resources.  Insights from Space Medicine have relevance to understanding risk mitigation, organisational behaviour, and the opportunities and constraints of technological innovation in risk-averse sectors.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr Michael Barratt, NASA astronaut and spaceflight surgeon, and Ms Naoko Yamazaki, former JAXA astronaut and aerospace engineer, to Durham.

This event is jointly convened by Dr Nikita Chiu, Associate Professor in Space Innovation & Technology Governance, and Mark Hannaford, CEO and Founder of World Extreme Medicine, with support from 黑料网 Space Research Centre, Department of Management & Marketing, St Chad's College, and the Beamish Museum.

For further details, contact Dr Nikita Chiu, convenor and Durham convening lead on Space Medicine at sze.w.chiu@durham.ac.uk
